Long-term partnership delivers sovereign naval sustainment capability

Defence prime Babcock Australasia and Franmarine are showing the benefits of long-term partnerships for innovation, export opportunities, jobs, and sovereign capability.

Franmarine’s partnership with Babcock is a strong case for what can be achieved when a Prime contractor engages with Australian Industry Capability (AIC). It is through the collaboration that has seen the development of MarineStream™ which is an integrated blockchain-enabled biofouling management system that is providing tangible benefits to the Royal Australian Navy.

This has enabled ships to comply with all national and international biofouling regulations and standards, improving safety and efficiency. The alliance has provided a platform for Franmarine to further develop and export their technology.

The success of this partnership shows the potential for further collaborative work between local industry and government, providing more opportunities to help grow capabilities and support Australia’s sovereign requirements.
